13 GIFTS OF TRUTHFULNESS

STOP PRETENDING TO BE WHO YOU ARE NOT

TOPICS

Once upon a kingdom a problem-child princess kept rejecting suitors on the excuse that "None of them was a real man".
Thus the debate of who was "a real man" spread like wild fire in that very wealthy and popular kingdom.

The king was suffocated by the dilemma. At the last count his only child had turned down thirty suitors. He was most embarrassed, to say the least

To solve the problem he gave the princess an ultimatum: she must choose from the three remaining suitors or he would disown her.

In response the princess threatened to enroll as a nun at the local parish if she could not find "a real man" amongst the three men

"What do you mean by a real man?" screamed the king. "All the princes and influential suitors are not "real men"?"

The die was cast: either the princess picked a man to marry among the three, or she lost her royalty either by becoming a nun or through disownment by her father.

Now those who loved the king and desperately wanted royalty to remain in his lineage intervened and advised the three men on what they felt they knew about the princess

The first man, a worker in an average company who was parading himself as a successful businessman, burrowed money to maintain the image. He ended up in debt and rejection.

The second man, a ladies' man who thought he knew how to handle such scenario, bombarded the princess with promises, sweet talks and tall dreams and gifts. He was also rejected.

The last Man standing, a man of little means who decided to be himself, came to the princess:

"My princess, I am a man of little means, but I promise to do my best to take care of you. I am not from a reknown background but we do take care of our own. Of a certainty I am unworthy of you but I know my love for you is genuine....."

To the surprise of everyone, the princess gladly accepted and married the man of little means who decided to be himself and not someone else.

She said "he was her real man".

Are you real?
Are you the genuine article?
Do you put up ''false appearances' just to conform or to get what you want?
  • It is better to be seen as  yourself than as someone else
  • Do not be a copycat
  • falsehood does not pay
  • Deceptiveness robs you of access to real and genuine help or assistance you are in need of
  • It is good and comfortable to be yourself
  • Being yourself or real attracts genuine attention instead of charlatans
  • When you are "real" your friends and relationships will be real and genuine as well; you can get real help in times of need
  • When you are truthful you are considered reliable and dependable
  •  When you are "real" you are are considered trust-worthy
  • It is unprofitable to live a false or deceptive  life-style
  • No matter how long a false front or image is maintained, one day the facade will crumble and exposure and disgrace will be the result
  • It is pointless to make empty promises knowing we will not be able to fulfill them
  •  Better a truthful and practical tongue than a sweet and deceptive one
